Mission and Vision

Mission

Digital Collections Services preserves, manages, and provides open access to the scholarly, creative, and cultural heritage record of Texas A&M University, building repository infrastructure and applying emerging technologies so that this record remains discoverable, trustworthy, and usable for generations to come.

Vision

We envision a Texas A&M University where every scholar, researcher, and community member can find, access, and build upon the University’s digital scholarship and cultural heritage, supported by repository systems that are resilient, interoperable, and enriched by responsible innovation in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

What Guides Us

  • Access — We remove barriers to discovery and (re-)use, from open access publishing to accessible, standards-compliant digital collections and exhibits.

  • Stewardship — We are long-term stewards of the University’s scholarly output and cultural heritage materials, committed to their preservation and integrity.

  • Innovation — We responsibly evaluate and adopt new technologies, including AI and machine learning, to increase the scale, accuracy, and impact of our work.

  • Collaboration — We partner across the Libraries and Special Collections, campus units such as HPRC and technology services, and external organizations such as the Texas Digital Library to deliver services no single team could sustain alone.

  • Openness — We favor open access, open scholarship, open source, open standards, and transparent practices that expand who can participate in and benefit from Texas A&M’s research and cultural record.
